THANKYOU ski rider we would thoroughly recommend you. At first we thought the bathroom was a bit tiny and the entertainment was too old for our primary school kids. But none of that mattered as they were exhausted from skiing and in bed early every night. The food, location, staff, bus and vibe was fantastic. Would love to come again. Special thanks to Matt in ski hire, Jess, Gus, Lauren, Tom, Ben, Kimberly and Dutchie in the restaurant. And Talbot...

Not a guest but a very appreciative customer. So the story goes, some silly person (me) neglected to put enough fuel in the car and we ran short half way up guthega road. Not a road (after 20cm of fresh snow) that many pass down. So it's a long trudge back to civilization 18km to the main road (you can't call for help no reception). After trying unsuccessfully to flag down two snowyhydro vehicles (thanks heaps snowyhydro staff👎👎) along comes...

Well again the Ski rider has done it again and put on a great time for myself and our group. This was our 8th year at the Ski Rider and it was about the best, with the added bonus of a massive snow fall on Friday night and right through the rest of the weekend. A big Thank you to Teena for all her help on organising our weekend away, also to the rest of the Ski Rider team on...

Recently stayed and had a really enjoyable time. The staff were welcoming and friendly and the food was plentiful. On the day we were leaving our car was snowed in. Brendan came and assisted fitting chains to our car on his day off and missed his bus to go snow boarding - His cousin also provided water to melt ice off our car - Truly exceptional service !!! We will be back !!

My family, along with two others, made the trek to the ski fields for the first time last June. I am STILL fondly remembering what we all thought was 'the best family holiday ever!'

Great common room facilities and the breakfast and meals are just the best with friendly staff. From my room I could not access my mobile phone access (Telstra) and Ski Rider wireless access was not possible to access. If this was fixed then it would have improved my stay. Otherwise all good Thanks Ken So I had to stay within common areas to have communication access.

Arrived at ski rider on the Sunday and stayed for 1 week. Check in was easy and welcomed by the lovely guy on the front desk and he was genuinely interested in our travels and he was smiling the whole time. The main building is clean and warm. The rooms are away from the main building which has - 2 x bars one is a grill and bar so choose your own meat and cook and the other one is...

Our stay at Ski Rider was amazing! Thank you Ski Rider for a holiday and memories that we will never forget.  Your staff go over and beyond their call of duty.  The Manager of the ski/clothing hire, James, and the other James' went out of their way many times to accommodate us.  The girls in the office and the food crew were all a pleasure to interact with.  I can't believe our family survived without TV & a fridge...LOL they...

Frequently Asked Questions

When is the best time to take my holiday?
The official opening of the winter snow season is the June Long Weekend and it officially closes on the October long weekend each year.  Depending on snow, resorts can open earlier or extend their season. In 2018 Ski Rider will be officially opening on 22 June and closing on 27 September.
I’m coming on X date, will there be snow?
If only we had a direct line to mother nature we'd give her a call! But to put it simply Mother Nature is fickle. It's hard to tell when she's going to deliver in the snow department, for how long and where. Add plenty of other weather factors that can affect the snow once it's fallen into the mix and great snow conditions are not always a guarantee. Snowmaking is the saviour of all Australian Ski Resorts.  Without it we would not have the consistent conditions we have today.
Do I need a lesson?
Having a lesson will ensure that your first skiing or boarding experience is safe and enjoyable.  First Timer Lift Tickets include your Lift Ticket and a Daily Lesson program tailored to the needs of those who have never been skiing or boarding before. A first timer ticket gains access to 30 of the 47 lifts across all 4 resorts at Perisher. Check out the resort information pages for details.
We just want to play in the snow…..where should we go?
One of the traditional childhood delights of the snowfields is tobogganing. It’s an affordable addition to your skiing and boarding holiday that’s great fun for kids and parents alike.  Speak with our staff regarding areas for tobogganing.
Do I need travel insurance?
Ski Rider recommends travel insurance for all ski holidays.  Numerous insurance brokers now offer domestic travel insurance policies.  Try checking with your private health fund, car insurer or home & contents insurer as well as specific travel insurance providers.  Just be sure to enquire whether snow sports are covered on the policy!
How long does it take to get to Perisher?
Ski Rider is just 11km's from Perisher.  If you are driving your own car, there are free carparks at both Perisher and Smiggin Holes.  If you don't want to drive, jump on the Ski Rider FREE guest shuttle for the 11km trip to Perisher.
Do I need snow chains?
All 2WD vehicles are legally required to carry snow chains within the Kosciuszko National Park. AWD and 4WD vehicles are not required to carry them, but they are still recommended. Check out more on Snow chains.
