Don’t take our word – Take theirs

We are disappointed that Ski Rider will not be open for the 2020 ski season. We understand the reasons and appreciate the difficulty reaching that decision must have been. 2020 would have been our 10th consecutive year of going to Ski Rider and we were so looking forward to it. We normally bring quite a large group with us, up to 20, or more, and we have never been disappointed by the staff as they are friendly and helpful. I...
Thank You
Hi there, we just stayed 2 nights with you at Ski Rider,  We just wanted to write to say thank you so much.  It was our first time staying with you and we were so impressed with how friendly all your staff were to us. From the staff serving the meals to the staff collecting plates, bar staff and office staff, everyone was so lovely and so friendly in an environment which could easily be so frustrating to work In...
Having just returned from staying 12 days at Ski Rider Hotel I can attest to it being as good as ever. It's close to Perisher Valley with its numerous ski trails from Mt Perisher, across to Guthega and Blue Cow. Ski Rider is not flashy, but is very comfortable and has a helpful ski /snowboard gear hire place on the premises. (I was very happy with the ski equipment I rented.) There's always lots of hot water, no matter what...
Weekend Escape
Our family just has a weekend escape at the Ski Rider. We had a fabulous time but want to congratulate and praise you on all the staff- from the check in  girls, to the ski hire guys, bus drivers and the dining and bar staff. Everyone was so friendly , happy, helpful and went out of their way to say hello, have a good day and could they be of any help. We have stayed 4 times at your hotel...

Wow! What a fantastic place to base yourself. Staff are exceptional and the happiest people on earth. Special shout out to Mick on the bus who always wore a massive smile. Josh in the bar who remembered what you were drinking from the very first order. Shuttle bus was so easy and great local knowledge. Hire shop boys are spot on. Everyone clearly loves what they do. Food sensational especially the grill. Basic rooms but warm and comfortable. Absolutely 5...

Thank you to the wonderful friendly staff, especially the Head chef and Dave who fixed our heater really quickly when we broke it! We had an amazing family ski holiday, the rooms were comfy, the food was scrumptious, the kids ate it all up! Everyone is so friendly, and not having to cook after a big day on the slopes was awesome!

Fantastic place to stay. We had the best family holiday at the snow, thank you. From the dining area staff to the hire staff, (who put up with me changing my boots daily) were all amazing, friendly and helpful. An extra thank you to Liz in reception who went above and beyond to make our stay extra special! Thanks so much.
One of the best place I have stayed at while coming to the snow. I would even say it is one of the best places I have stayed anywhere. My family and children really loved our stay. Excellent service, the staff were very friendly and very helpful. The food was excellent and the rooms were warm and comfortable. The price was excellent value for money. The chalet really provides an excellent community feel. I would highly recommend this resort to...

The staff are amazing.  Everyone is very friendly and go above and beyond to make your stay the best.  The rooms are clean and warm.  The food is very delicious.  Ski Rider is very children friendly and our children loved the games room.  Thanks for making our 1st visit so enjoyable.  We will be back.
Steve – Gold Coast
My son & myself have stayed at the Ski Rider three times in the last five years.  It has always been awesome but I really think it gets better every year.  All the staff are welcoming & warm and always cheerful.  We had a plumbing issue one night & the staff along with Roxanne couldn't do enough for us.  I run a building business on the Gold Coast.  I know how important good staff are not to mention how hard...
Lorraine – Kelvin QLD
Every staff member is friendly, helpful & goes out of their way to ensure our time is fantastic.  We have had three years here and will be back again.  It's wonderful to be surrounded by people who smile, greet us with positive comments & who genuinely look happy.
Michelle – Wallagoot NSW
All the staff were helpful & friendly.  A special mention to Luke from the Dining Room who was always friendly & smiling even though he was injured.  He remembered us from last year as well.  Most impressive.  The staff in equipment hire were helpful with our 2 year old to get fitted for skis & boots.  The chefs were great with accommodating our daughter's food allergy.

Frequently Asked Questions

When is the best time to take my holiday?
The official opening of the winter snow season is the June Long Weekend and it officially closes on the October long weekend each year.  Depending on snow, resorts can open earlier or extend their season. In 2018 Ski Rider will be officially opening on 22 June and closing on 27 September.
I’m coming on X date, will there be snow?
If only we had a direct line to mother nature we'd give her a call! But to put it simply Mother Nature is fickle. It's hard to tell when she's going to deliver in the snow department, for how long and where. Add plenty of other weather factors that can affect the snow once it's fallen into the mix and great snow conditions are not always a guarantee. Snowmaking is the saviour of all Australian Ski Resorts.  Without it we would not have the consistent conditions we have today.
Do I need a lesson?
Having a lesson will ensure that your first skiing or boarding experience is safe and enjoyable.  First Timer Lift Tickets include your Lift Ticket and a Daily Lesson program tailored to the needs of those who have never been skiing or boarding before. A first timer ticket gains access to 30 of the 47 lifts across all 4 resorts at Perisher. Check out the resort information pages for details.
We just want to play in the snow…..where should we go?
One of the traditional childhood delights of the snowfields is tobogganing. It’s an affordable addition to your skiing and boarding holiday that’s great fun for kids and parents alike.  Speak with our staff regarding areas for tobogganing.
Do I need travel insurance?
Ski Rider recommends travel insurance for all ski holidays.  Numerous insurance brokers now offer domestic travel insurance policies.  Try checking with your private health fund, car insurer or home & contents insurer as well as specific travel insurance providers.  Just be sure to enquire whether snow sports are covered on the policy!
How long does it take to get to Perisher?
Ski Rider is just 11km's from Perisher.  If you are driving your own car, there are free carparks at both Perisher and Smiggin Holes.  If you don't want to drive, jump on the Ski Rider FREE guest shuttle for the 11km trip to Perisher.
Do I need snow chains?
All 2WD vehicles are legally required to carry snow chains within the Kosciuszko National Park. AWD and 4WD vehicles are not required to carry them, but they are still recommended.
